I read quite extensively, and often wonder where the author's stories originate. You can find out where my stories originate, or at the very least a sense of the person behind them, below. below.
Greetings, my name is...
BRENN H. DOUGLAS
First and foremost, thank you for your interest in my website and writings. Even if your interest is fleeting, I appreciate that you have made your way to this collection of written works.
I am an author based out of Perth, Western Australia. I am currently working as a Deputy Principal in a remote town, and have taught both Drama and English in the past. Working in education is an incredible challenge; a statement that most teachers and education professionals would agree with, I feel. This work leaves me very little time for this passion project of mine, but I will endure regardless.
I grew up in Busselton, a coast town three hours south of Western Australia's capital city. I enjoyed what Busselton had to offer me in my youth, and I draw a lot of inspiration from it still. I left to pursue further education and to explore greater opportunities.
My undergraduate degree is a double major in Theatre Studies and Contemporary Performance at the esteemed Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). I also have a Masters of Education, specialising in Leading Education and Literacy Education which has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally as a novelist.
I enjoy reading just as much as I do writing, and I read quite extensively across many various genres. My favourite authors are: Markus Zusak, Stephen King, J.P. Delaney, and Gillian Flynn. I draw on these authors' writing styles for inspiration, which I feel is ever-present in my written work.
I endeavour to post up an array of mixed genre writings on this website, so stay posted, use as you please and read when you need.
May they bring you even half as much joy to read as they did for me to write.
Stay tuned for the release of my first novel which is well underway.
